Bechamel pasta

Let's be real, there's no big story behind this one! 😂 I got these gorgeous baking dishes and couldn't wait to use them. Bechamel pasta felt like the perfect choice because they're just the right depth for all those layers of pasta, creamy sauce, and golden cheese on top. So, here we are! 🤎

  1. Cook the pasta

Bring a pot of water to a boil, add the pasta, and cook until al dente, according to the package instructions.

  2. Cook the meat

Add the chopped onion to a hot pan and cook until golden. Add the ground beef and sauté until it changes color. Pour in a little water and let the beef cook through, then add the spices and mix well.

  3. Make the sauce

In a small saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the flour and whisk until the mixture turns golden brown. Gradually pour in the milk, whisking continuously until the sauce thickens to a mayonnaise-like consistency. Add the spices, mix well, and turn off the heat.

  4. Layering and baking

In a deep baking dish, spread a layer of béchamel sauce over the bottom. Add a layer of pasta, followed by all the cooked meat. Top with the second layer of pasta, then pour over the remaining béchamel sauce. Finally, garnish with shredded cheese. Bake in a preheated oven at 200°C with the fan on for 30 minutes, or until the top is golden brown.
